Solar Controller / Regulator
One of the major advantages of Kickass Panels is the fact that they are waterproof, including the in-built regulator. This means you do not need to bring your panel in when it looks like it is going to rain.
Battery Status & Charge Indication indicates the charge status of your battery in real time.
The regulator can be set to charge your exact battery type with Wet, AGM, Calcium and Gel settings. This not only charges your battery in the quickest and most efficient way possible but also extends the life span of the battery by preventing harmful overcharging.
KickAss use super heavy duty twin core double insulated cable to minimise voltage drop. (6mm Auto for the 100W, & 150W & 8mm Auto for the 200W & 300W)
To keep the setup neat and tidy, the cabling between each panel has been designed to fit through each frame on their way to the regulator which means there is nothing to clip together making setup a breeze.
Frame & Structure
The panels are encased in a corrosion-resistant aluminium frame with stainless steel fittings; this will not rust and will stay in great condition for many years to come.
Unique to KickAss Panels is a specially designed nylon strap. This strap secures the legs in place, preventing them from falling over, adding that extra bit of stability required on hard surfaces.
Protective plastic corners avoid damage in transit and also help prevent the panels slipping on hard surfaces. If these chip/crack in the transit process, that means they have done their job and we will be happy to replace them for you.
Rubber protective patches are positioned on the back of the panel to prevent the legs from damaging the sensitive rear of the solar cells when the panels are folded. (On cheap panels, the continuous knocking of the legs against the rear of the solar cells destroys panels)
The absolute toughest solar panel carry bag available, anywhere! When folded, the panels easily slide into the KickAss Extra Heavy Duty Carry Bag, which has been designed with tough YKK zips, durable vinyl and the strongest stitching available. An accessory pocket is also fitted to store all the included leads and cables.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will hail damage my solar panel?
Small hail will not be a problem. Large hail stones may cause damage. All glass used in solar panels is toughened & factory tested.
Will dirty glass on my solar panel reduce power it creates?
YES. Keep the glass area of your solar panel as clean as possible. All dirty marks of films on the glass surface will reduce its efficiency. Keep it free from bird and bat droppings as they may permanently mark the glass surface. Clean with a moist soft cloth.
What can I run with my solar panel?
Appliances are run from your battery connected to your solar panel, not from the panel directly. How much power your solar panel generates back into your battery on a daily basis, depends on a the size solar panel you have and the amount of sunlight the panel is exposed to. If you want to ensure that your appliances will run continuously from your battery and solar panel setup, you must make sure that the overall power being generated is more than the power being consumed by your appliances.
I have my own Regulator, can I bypass the controller on the panel?
YES. Simply disconnect the plug between the controller and the black box on the back of the solar panel. Connect your charging lead directly to the small black box on the back of the solar panel. (Remember, this power will not be regulated and should not be connected directly to a battery without first going through a regulator)
Will my panel work in cloudy weather?
You solar panel can still generate electricity in cloudy conditions but output will be diminished depending on conditions.
Where do I face my panel for optimal power generation?
Place your solar panel in full sun perpendicular to the direction of the sun rays. If you are not able to move your panels throughout the day, the best option is to place your panels facing North at about a 45% angle.
How do I check my panels are Working?
Set up as above. First unplug the panel output Anderson plug to the regulator and connect it to the source end of your Watt meter. It should show 12 to 20 volts. If that is fine reconnect the panels to the regulator. Connect the source end of the Wat meter to the regulator and the other end to a cable to the load - the battery needing to be charged. Please note you cannot measure amps and Watts without a load, and if you plug the watt meter to the regulator you will get no readings at all unless there is a load connected. If the battery is already full you will not be able to evaluate your panels as the battery will not be drawing much if any power.
Unpacking and setting up your panel:
1. Kickass Solar Panels are essentially plug and play.
2. Remove your panel from the carry bag.
3. Unclip the latches that hold the panel closed then fold out the legs (adjusting the nylon leg strap to achieve desired angle).
4. Place your panel on a reasonably flat surface facing towards the sun.
Connecting the panel to your 12V batteries:
Included with your panel is a small bag with a 5m connecting cable and a range of adaptors.
1. Connect the 5m connecting cable to the solar regulator, which you will find fitted the the leg of the panel.
(the connecting cable is complete with an Anderson plug which is a common 12V connection)
2. If the Anderson plug is not suitable for your application, you can attach either the included Alligator Clip Adaptor or Male Cigarette Lighter Plug Adapter to the Anderson plug on the end of the connecting cable.
3. Once you have selected the desired connection type, go ahead and connect the panel to your battery.
Please note: You cannot run appliances directly from the solar panel. It must be connected to a 12v Battery to operate.
