What can I run with a KICKASS® inverter?
KICKASS® inverters are built so tough you can just about run anything from them - fridge, tv, blender, radio / stereo your PC or laptop providing that the maximum wattage to the appliance does not exceed the total output rating of the inverter. Some higher wattage appliances like kettles and toasters are not recommended as it is more efficient to use an alternative energy source such as gas for these appliances. Inductive loads such as electric motors usually take up to four times more power at startup, so the surge power rating should be considered when choosing the right inverter. How do I choose the right inverter?
Choosing the right inverter firstly depends on what and how many appliances you want to run from it. You need to ensure the maximum wattage or total load of the appliances do not exceed the total output of the inverter. You then need to determine how long you are running the appliances for and calculate the AH’s you will need from your batteries so you can ensure the battery size is sufficient. Lastly you need to consider how to charge your batteries so things can keep running here you may consider portable solar panels, DC-DC chargers or AC battery chargers.
